Ormie

I found this brilliantly made animation on vimeo. About a pig trying to get some cookies off the top of a fridge, but everything he tries fails comically. It reminds me a little of the animation Mat and I are going to make.

Here is the link from vimeo Ormie

Mime Animation Research

I found this mime animation; one of the first that I've found where I thought the idea was quite good and it was quite animated well.

Shooting Plans/Maps - 25.10.11

HUGE post time!!

Here are the shooting plans I mentioned in my last post...as you can see it is very long, but I think it makes it a lot easier for anybody reading the shooting script who hasn't read the synopsis/script before!

Shooting Script Finalised - 25.10.11

Mat and I have been working on finalising the shooting script for quite a while now but we finally finished it today, we also made very effective plans for each shot. Given the go ahead by Jud today, here is the final shooting script.

In the next post I'll put the plans/maps so you can better understand the camera movements and what will be on screen.  It also helps with continuity!

Style Research

Jo showed me this great animation about a young boy and a penguin who turns up at his front door one day. They go on an adventure trying to get the penguin back to his home in the South Pole, yet once there, the penguin realises his home is with the boy.

I really love the style and it is something I aspire for Mat's and my animation...I'll give it my best shot!!

Camera Plans - 20/10/11

We got to show Jud and Mario our 'finished' shooting script today...sufficed to say it didn't go too well.  They immediately discovered flaws and continuity errors that Mat and I couldn't see, since we know how the set is going to look and how each shot goes as we've been through it a thousand times already, it's easy to forget no one else knows what it will be like.

However we started and finished camera plans (twice) to make the whole thing clearer for others to read, so they could get a sense of the films direction and how it would look on screen. I have to say this helped us a lot too, and will be a great deal of help when it comes to the storyboarding.

Also today, Jud and Mario went through the budgeting with the few people who turned up to class. This was also a great help as it gave us an idea of time scale and what generally happens in what order. I found this bit of info on YouTube that also shows how an animation might develop from storyboard to final film.

Shooting Script 19/10/11

Another big ol' Post!!

Mat and I finally collated all of the shots together today into one final shooting script, previously they were spread across 2 separate scripts and it was getting some what confusing to keep track of which shots we had chosen and where the transitions were going to be.

In addition to this we added all of the sound effects to the celtx file and printed off a new fresh copy to add the shots to. We also tidied it up somewhat, adding larger breaks between each shot before we printed it off, just to make the transitions clearer for us and others reading it for the first time.

It looks much cleaner and legible, helping us and everyone else when it comes to picturing it in our heads.

Doing this however added a great deal of length...now at 10 pages it does seem a bit excessive, but we've run it past both Jud and Mario and they are happy with the main script.
